Clearly Automated is proud to announce that we’ve been awarded Best Integrated Home at the 2017 CEDIA Awards.
The project, submitted in the EMEA Best Integrated Home – Level III category, was selected as the winning entry for installations in the £240,000–£360,000 range. The award was presented for Clearly Automated’s work on The Windmill, a landmark private residential project in the UK.
Level III represents the highest award tier within the category, making this one of the most prestigious honours available for residential smart home integration in the EMEA region.
Winning this level acknowledges outstanding design, user experience, technical engineering, and innovation deployed at scale.

He added that the seamless install featured concealed TVs, speakers behind plaster, and networks behind floors and under floorboards.

About the Award-Winning Installation
Following the awards ceremony, Clearly Automated’s installation was featured on page 79 of the CEDIA Awards 2017 Yearbook.
The award-winning system was designed for a 12,000-square-foot, three-storey home with an open-plan layout, balancing high-performance intelligent control with elegant, discreet aesthetics.
Clearly Automated engineered a fully integrated solution encompassing:

- Full smart-home integration via a single unified control platform
Distributed audio plays a major part in the design:
- The top floor features invisible Amina speakers paired with Velodyne in-wall subwoofers, offering immersive audio while preserving architectural lines.
- The middle floor includes a full 5.1 surround system, and
- The ground floor uses a combination of a TV lift, integrated soundbar, and hidden speakers for a discreet entertainment solution.
Lighting throughout the property is automated using intelligent occupancy sensors, recalling tailored scenes on entry and powering down in unoccupied rooms. Bedrooms include Lutron Pico bedside remotes for effortless control of blinds, lighting scenes, and nighttime pathways. Lutron touchscreens provide granular control and scene selection throughout the home.
In the cinema room, a fixed acoustically transparent projection screen conceals the Artcoustic Spitfire LCR channels. Sonance rear and side speakers are seamlessly recessed into upholstered wall panels to maintain aesthetic clarity without compromising acoustic performance.
