Luxury Cinema Room Kettering
Clearly Automated had already installed a full home automation system into the main house, when the owners came back and said, “We want you to put something spectacular and special into the old cellar as a home cinema and gaming room.”
This was a project that allowed Clearly Automated a free hand with the design of the room and the specification of the home cinema system. The only requirements being the retention of the exposed brickwork alcove and room for five seats and additional bean bags, so the kids could relax when gaming.
Taking the empty 4.5m x 3.5 cellar, Clearly Automated produced a number of design options for the clients using architectural rendering software. Once the basic layout of the room had been agreed, the details, such as fabric colours, paint effects and joinery requirements were finalised. The interior design project was run in tandem with the AV specification, to ensure perfect acoustic, structural and aesthetic integration.
Complying with the client’s wish for the brickwork to be exposed, a brick alcove was used to house the Blu-ray player and Playstation on custom made glass shelving. The rest of the audio-visual equipment was kept out of the cellar in a plant room some 12m away, helping conserve the feel of the old room without the intrusion of the electronics.
Bringing the movies to life was a top quality acoustically transparent cinema screen, allowing the dedicated cinema loudspeakers, brought in from the USA, to be mounted out of sight behind the screen. A 4K projector produced the stunning pictures, from the Blu-ray player, Sky box, PlayStation and Apple TV and all was controlled using a simple to operate iPad based system.
The family were delighted with their new cinema room, spending many hours relaxing in the sumptuous cinema seats sourced from Italy, watching their favourite movies and playing games.
